The German Master of Arts program emphasizes cultural studies, with a concentration on literature, film, philosophy, and education. Participants have the opportunity to pursue studies at German-speaking institutions, with support provided for international academic arrangements. Those focusing on multimedia teaching methods can access specialized initiatives and hands-on experiences. A select number of Teaching Associate roles are offered to eligible applicants.
To graduate, students must complete 30 units of approved upper-division and graduate coursework, with at least 24 units in German and 18 units at the 500-600 level in German studies
Proficiency in another language (beyond German and English) relevant to academic research is required
A final requirement: either comprehensive exams or a thesis (additional details on these choices are available from the Graduate Advisor)
