The Master of Arts in French and Francophone Studies offers in-depth understanding of French and Francophone literature, including its historical context, key authors, and significant works, alongside training in academic research methodologies. While some MA graduates continue to PhD programs in literature, others enter diverse fields such as education, translation, international brand or event coordination, public health, development, and business.
As a global language spoken across five continents in more than fifty nations, French unlocks worldwide possibilities for education, careers, and personal enrichment. It serves as a primary language in cultural exchange, global trade, international affairs, and diplomatic relations. At CSULB's French program, students gain practical language skills and cultural awareness, while also developing crucial abilities in critical analysis, logical reasoning, and flexibility. Bilingual proficiency in English and French provides a competitive edge for employment with multinational corporations that operate in French across industries including tourism, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, fashion, luxury goods, automotive, aerospace, energy, transportation, and defense. No matter your professional aspirations, studying French equips you to navigate the demands and prospects of today's interconnected global workforce.
