The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is a professional graduate degree that equips advanced practice nurses for sophisticated clinical roles, leadership positions in healthcare settings, and instructional positions at California's community colleges and universities. The BSN-DNP curriculum develops graduates' capabilities in evidence-based research, leadership, health policy, advocacy, and advanced clinical skills across six nurse practitioner specialties: Adult Gerontology Primary Care, Adult Gerontology Acute Care, Family Practice, Pediatric Primary Care, and Psychiatric-Mental Health Across the Lifespan. Additionally, the program readies students for national certification exams in their chosen specialty. This full-time, three-year BSN-to-DNP program comprises 72 semester units, including 39 core course units (54.67%), 24 clinical specialty units (33.33%), and 9 doctoral project units (12.5%).
