This industrial design program equips students for careers by blending innovation, business acumen, and user-focused teamwork to develop products and experiences that merge art, commerce, and technology. Admission to the professional BS program requires a portfolio evaluation. Portfolio assessments occur during spring for fall enrollment into Junior-level coursework. BS program candidates must secure approval after their submitted portfolios are evaluated. To qualify for BS portfolio review, students need to pass these courses with at least a C grade: DESN 110, DESN 120A, DESN 120B, DESN 132A, DESN 132B, DESN 150, DESN 151, DESN 154, and DESN 156. Additionally, applicants must be currently taking or have completed DESN 232, DESN 254, and DESN 280 with a minimum C grade. Students are permitted two application attempts to the BS Program, but cannot apply after accumulating 89 timely graduation units. For portfolio submission guidelines and review procedures, please consult the department.
