The Speech-Language Pathology Department offers academic programs for those aspiring to enter the fields of speech-language pathology or audiology. Students can pursue either a Bachelor of Arts or Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Graduates with a Master's degree become eligible for several professional credentials, including the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Certificate of Clinical Competence, California's Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential, and state licensure. Bachelor's degree candidates may qualify for licensure as Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) and receive SLPA certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The department operates an on-campus Speech and Language clinic that functions as both a training facility and research center for students at all levels. Clinical experience opportunities extend to various off-campus settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, specialized clinics, and educational institutions.
