The Master of Music in Performance is a 30-unit applied degree focusing on private instruction, ensembles, chamber music, music history, and theory. The School of Music at Cal State Fullerton boasts faculty of national and international renown as performers, scholars, and composers. Students flourish in a rigorous musical environment that balances challenging performance opportunities with personalized mentorship. This program serves as a pathway to doctoral studies (DMA) and offers two specializations: theory/composition and performance. Graduates of the M.M. program will: possess advanced expertise in music history, literature, and theory; demonstrate pre-professional mastery in performance, composition, and analysis; enter their field with exceptional knowledge and technical ability; communicate effectively through research and presentations; exhibit leadership in collaborative academic and performance settings; pursue innovative artistic expression in programming; and integrate global perspectives and contemporary trends into their musical practice, education, and career growth.
