The Music Honors Program caters to exceptional students demonstrating remarkable musical talent and academic excellence. Open to senior music majors maintaining a 3.5 GPA in their major and a 3.0 overall university GPA, the program requires approval from both the student's primary advisor and the director before honors course registration. Students can choose from three program options: presenting a senior recital with a complementary research paper (exploring the recital's historical context), completing a substantial written project on music history, literature, or education, or undertaking a significant composition project. After receiving official approval, participants enroll in three units of guided study through MUSC 190A (1 unit) and MUSC 190B (2 units), working closely with an assigned faculty mentor.
