Students earning a Master of Arts in Music possess in-depth understanding of music history, literature, and theory. They become skilled, thoughtful, and autonomous musicians through performance, improvisation, composition, analysis, research, and/or music instruction. They meet professional communication standards in both writing and speaking through research initiatives and presentations. These graduates exhibit leadership in academic and performance collaborations while incorporating worldwide viewpoints and contemporary developments into their professional practice and career growth. The M.A. in Music program aims to develop professionals who: possess expert-level comprehension of music history, literature, and theory; demonstrate advanced, reflective musical practice through performance/improvisation, composition, and analysis; maintain scholarly communication standards in research papers and presentations; show leadership in collaborative academic and performance settings; and apply international perspectives and modern trends to their musical expertise in performance/improvisation, composition, teaching, and career advancement.
