Qualification Requirements
In order to apply, a minimum 3.0 GPA is required for your overall GPA, last 60 units, and your major classes. The student's GPAs for their last 60 units and for their major classes are calculated and used for admission consideration.
In addition to completing the CSU application, the following documents are also required via Cal State Apply:
1. Statement of Purpose (also known as the letter of intent).
All students applying to the graduate program in Deaf Education must submit a Statement of Purpose. Please limit the length of your letter to approximately one page, if possible. The Statement of Purpose should include:
an explanation of your interest in the field of Deaf Education,
a brief description of previous experience, paid or volunteer, in deaf education or related fields (emphasis should be placed on educational experience),
your reasons for pursuing graduate studies,
your future goals (whether your orientation is an Early Interventionist or Deaf Education Teacher ),
any goals specific to ethnically diverse (e.g., multilingual/multicultural) or special needs populations.
2. Letter of Recommendation
Once entering 'Cal State Apply', you will be asked to provide the names and email addresses of three individuals who will provide letters of recommendation electronically.
3. In addition, it is recommended that applicants upload the following:

ASPLI Score
Certificate of Clearance
T.B. Clearance
Have completed a four-year college course of study and hold an acceptable baccalaureate,are in good academic standing at the last college or university attended,
have attained a grade point average of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree, OR
have attained a grade point average of at least 2.5 (A = 4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted
TOEFL 80 iBT, or IELTS 6.5, or PBT 550
