The 21st century presents a world of intricate connections between a delicate environment and humanity's rich cultural diversity. Geographers possess specialized skills to grasp the broader perspective, enabling deeper comprehension of these dynamic relationships between nature and human societies.
Our Geography Department provides a Bachelor of Arts in geography, along with minor programs in geography, meteorology, and an interdisciplinary urban studies option. Our curriculum prepares undergraduates for careers in environmental research, education, weather analysis, regional planning, and advanced academic pursuits.
At its core, geography examines humanity's relationship with Earth, exploring our living spaces and the connections between people and their physical surroundings. Essentially, geography aims to cultivate comprehensive global awareness - understanding populations, cultures, and contemporary challenges. The discipline develops practical expertise to tackle economic, social, and environmental issues across all scales, from community to worldwide, using spatial organization much like history employs chronological frameworks.
By synthesizing knowledge from both natural and social sciences, geography draws upon diverse information sources to deliver versatile liberal arts training applicable to numerous professional fields.
