A music major equips students for professional paths in education, performance, or music industry careers. It deepens their understanding of musical artistry and heightens awareness of the musical environment.
The Music Department offers:
undergraduate programs for aspiring performers, composers, and music educators, along with advanced study preparation in performance and composition
California state-certified coursework meeting credential requirements for music educators
graduate programs for those pursuing academic careers, professional development as K-12 or community college instructors, and musical enrichment opportunities for non-majors and the wider community
Have graduated from high school (earning a high school diploma), have earned a Certificate of General Education Development (GED) or have passed the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE)
English language Score: TOEFL – 61 iBT, or IELTS – 6.0 or with 5.5 Band score in each section, or ELS Language Centers - Level 112, or Pearson's Test of English – 45. Application Deadlines: Fall - July 1 and Spring - November 1.
