Economics examines how societies structure themselves to create and distribute goods and services essential for community survival and growth. This core social science applies methodical analysis to understand income generation and allocation across nations. Given that contemporary social policies inherently involve economic factors, economics education enables students to explore today's most pressing political economy challenges.
Traditional economic domains include inflation, job markets, economic fluctuations, global commerce, financial systems, and growth strategies. In recent decades, economic principles have expanded to analyze diverse phenomena - from criminal activity and population trends to environmental issues, marital choices, human mobility, and various aspects of social behavior.
Studying economics cultivates analytical reasoning abilities that foster intellectual autonomy and confidence in addressing complex issues. Economics students must also develop comprehensive perspectives on humanity's choices regarding production systems and wealth distribution. The field encompasses numerous competing political-economic philosophies. Our department provides a robust, well-rounded academic program.
