The Master of Science program equips students with in-depth chemistry knowledge and sharpens their ability to analyze intricate chemical data. This curriculum includes mandatory foundational courses spanning various chemistry specialties. Participants can fulfill remaining credit hours through additional chemistry classes or opt for a biochemistry specialization with focused coursework. The program primarily caters to four groups: professionals pursuing chemical industry roles needing post-bachelor education, working chemists aiming for career advancement, aspiring high school or community college chemistry instructors, and those considering doctoral studies.
Given the swift evolution in chemistry and biochemistry, the department ensures its course offerings include both fundamental concepts and cutting-edge developments. Hands-on lab work and research projects familiarize students with modern experimental techniques and equipment. Multiple courses provide practice in evaluating chemical and biochemical publications, complemented by either a laboratory/computational research project (Plan A) or a comprehensive literature review (Plan B).
