The Department of Theatre and Dance fosters inclusive, rigorous creative exploration, offering thorough training in performance, artistic expression, critical thinking, diversity, teamwork, guidance, community involvement, and social equity.
By blending foundational courses with specialized concentrations, the curriculum delivers extensive pre-professional preparation across performance disciplines (Acting, Dance, Inclusive Performance with a focus on Social Justice, and Musical Theatre) and production fields (Stage Technology and Design). We aim to cultivate performers whose artistic abilities and originality are grounded in historical context, literary understanding, and aesthetic principles. Within a setting that nurtures innovation and personal voice, students frequently participate in diverse theatrical and dance performances. The capstone experience allows students to showcase their talents through directing, choreographing, performing, writing, interning, or designing.
The Theatre Arts program motivates students to develop versatile skills that broaden their professional prospects. Graduates have pursued advanced studies at prestigious institutions and conservatories nationwide. Some have embarked on teaching careers, while others have entered performance roles immediately. Alumni grace stages globally, from Broadway to Hollywood, earning accolades like Tony and Emmy Awards. Beyond the arts, employers in business and public sectors value Theatre Arts graduates for their collaborative abilities, innovative problem-solving, and dynamic communication skills.
