The political science program equips students with a structured understanding of governmental systems while fostering critical thinking about politics, law, and public policy. Earning a political science degree opens doors to diverse career paths including government service, policy analysis, legislative work, international affairs, and education. Many Cal State East Bay alumni advance to law school or pursue graduate studies in political science or policy analysis.
Upon completing their B.A. in Political Science, students will:
• Cultivate knowledge of democratic principles while gaining hands-on experience in civic participation and policy work
• Express comprehensive understanding of political science theories and research methods through both written and oral communication
• Analyze political systems globally, examining how economic, cultural, and social factors influence governance
• Define professional aspirations and create actionable plans to accomplish them
• Apply academic knowledge effectively through group projects and cooperative learning
