The Environmental Studies Undergraduate Major emphasizes fair, inclusive, and eco-friendly approaches to environmental challenges. Graduates become versatile professionals skilled at analyzing and integrating ecological, societal, ethical, financial, technological, and behavioral aspects of pressing environmental issues. Through both qualitative and quantitative problem-solving methods, our students learn to develop and effectively communicate practical environmental solutions.
Students often participate in sustainability initiatives on campus and in the community, including greenhouse gas evaluations, water resource analyses, climate action strategies, and urban renewal efforts. The program fosters strong partnerships across academic institutions, local communities, and global networks. Its close ties with the Geography Program offer students valuable training in spatial analysis techniques, enhancing their qualifications for roles like sustainability coordinators and environmental resource specialists. Additionally, the program thrives through robust regional and statewide sustainability efforts, positioning the San Francisco Bay Area as a premier destination for environmental professionals.
