The Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies offers a multidisciplinary exploration of the world's most populous region. Through examining historical, religious, artistic, and intellectual traditions, students develop knowledge of both classical cultures and contemporary socio-economic systems across Asia. The program includes achieving intermediate-level competency in an Asian language while fostering deep appreciation for the region's vibrant, varied societies - equipping graduates for diverse professional engagements with Asian cultures.
We highly recommend pursuing study abroad experiences in countries like China, India, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, or Thailand. Those participating in accredited Asian study programs may find this an ideal opportunity to pursue an Asian Studies major or minor.
Prospective study abroad participants should meet with the Asian Studies Coordinator to discuss credit transfer options before traveling. Many students can fulfill 24-26 major units or 15-17 minor units through approved study abroad coursework in Asia.
