The Master of Arts in English with a focus on Applied English Studies offers an extensive program designed to ready graduates for diverse professional paths. Emphasizing career growth and critical awareness, this program creates new possibilities for K-12 educators, establishes groundwork for PhD studies, and prepares students for roles in higher education instruction, as well as professions in publishing, editing, writing, content management, digital research, and teaching English internationally.
Our graduate candidates examine how language influences society to engage effectively with varied populations and imagine an equitable world. The curriculum centers on discussions about social and racial equity, teaching methods, literary works, composition, and cultural portrayals that reach beyond academic settings, while refining students' abilities in analytical reading, writing, instruction, investigation, and digital humanities.
