The Fisheries Biology program equips graduates with the skills to evaluate, cultivate, and oversee fish populations and their habitats, along with managing both sport and commercial fishing operations. The curriculum's flexibility also enables students to specialize in diverse fields including fish population studies, classification systems, aquatic farming in marine and freshwater environments, fish health control, aquatic ecosystem science, marine biology, and water contamination.
Our bachelor's degree program ranks among the most extensive and prestigious in the nation. Alumni hold positions with nearly every state Fish and Wildlife department, multiple federal fisheries agencies, and countless private enterprises and environmental consultancies. As California's sole fisheries management-focused program, we're also one of just a handful west of the Rockies.
Our program benefits from robust partnerships with related disciplines like environmental engineering, ocean science, biological sciences, watershed conservation, wildlife administration, and applied mathematics. These connections enable students to tailor their studies to personal career goals. Fisheries Biology offers an ideal path for those pursuing a rigorous, comprehensive education with diverse applications.
