The Bachelor of Science in Oceanography program is intentionally designed with flexibility, offering multiple academic pathways for students. Regardless of their chosen track, students gain a comprehensive scientific foundation, grasp core oceanographic principles, and understand how concepts from related scientific disciplines interconnect to address oceanographic challenges. We aim to cultivate a robust interdisciplinary mindset crucial for oceanic research and comprehension. Simultaneously, students develop specialized expertise in a science field closely aligned with Oceanography (such as biology, geology, physics, mathematics, or chemistry).

California's exclusive Bachelor of Science in Oceanography program enables students to achieve these educational goals:

Training as ocean science professionals capable of gathering, analyzing, and assisting in interpreting scientific data from oceanographic expeditions and fieldwork conducted by various governmental, educational, and private organizations.
Equipping students for advanced studies in Oceanography or related sciences through a rigorous, comprehensive scientific education.
Delivering a well-rounded scientific foundation and fundamental ocean knowledge for students with academic interest in Oceanography who may not pursue it professionally.
