The Theatre Arts major aims to establish a comprehensive base of knowledge, practical skills, and experiential learning in performance, design, and technology, equipping students for careers in the arts, various professions, or advanced academic pursuits.
Our Theatre program stands out through its strong partnership with the Film department. Students from both disciplines share certain courses while also focusing on specialized classes within their majors. This fosters numerous spontaneous interdisciplinary projects among participants.
Theatre education cultivates workplace-relevant abilities like innovative thinking, teamwork, efficient scheduling, independent initiative, and effective communication—qualities sought after across all industries. Alumni have excelled not only in theatrical careers but also in fields like administration, teaching, advisory services, digital media, and apparel design.
Theatre training begins with mastering fundamental concepts including historical context, terminology, and techniques that support hands-on learning. Through coursework and productions, students expand their expertise in performance, design, and technical aspects. As they advance, they learn to critically evaluate productions and implement their growing capabilities in increasingly complex and visible applications. Creative projects challenge students to move beyond conventional approaches, refining their inventive and analytical abilities. The program consistently emphasizes collaborative practices, building teamwork competencies that prove valuable in any professional setting.
