The ESE doctoral program educates students to address core challenges in environmental science and engineering. These challenges transcend conventional academic disciplines and operate across spatial dimensions from planetary to community scales. Participants develop comprehensive understanding of Earth's environmental systems, encompassing atmospheric, oceanic, and biological spheres. They specialize in selected concentration areas, advancing to original dissertation research. Mirroring the program's cross-disciplinary approach, ESE brings together faculty from Geological and Planetary Sciences, Engineering and Applied Science, and Chemistry and Chemical Engineering divisions.
