The Electrical Engineering (EE) program at Caltech equips students for advanced academic pursuits, entrepreneurial ventures, or research and development roles in governmental or corporate settings. It motivates them to pursue careers and professional practices that tackle society's urgent technological challenges. This is achieved by expanding upon the core curriculum to deliver comprehensive and rigorous training in electrical engineering fundamentals, including mathematics, science, and engineering principles. The program has several additional goals. It aims to strike a balance between theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory and design work, while highlighting essential engineering skills such as problem formulation, system design, and solution development. Furthermore, the program seeks to cultivate self-reliance, creativity, teamwork, professional ethics, communication abilities, and an awareness of current issues and the value of continuous learning in each student.
