In today's world, playwright Tennessee Williams observed that society is illuminated by lightning, yet electrical and computer engineers consistently demonstrate otherwise.
Their contributions span urban lighting to satellites, semiconductors, telephone networks, and audio devices, all relying on electricity and the expertise of engineers who innovate ways to utilize its energy.
At CSUN, Electrical Engineering students acquire a comprehensive, well-rounded education. The core curriculum includes subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer programming, engineering materials, electrical circuits, mechanics, thermodynamics, economics, and numerical analysis. In their final year, students can select electives from various Electrical and Computer Engineering fields, such as Biomedical Engineering, Communications, Digital Systems Design, Control Systems, Electronics, Microwave and Antenna Engineering, or Power Systems.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department features 17 laboratories for its courses, where students collaborate with professors on projects like designing medical devices for healthcare, creating microcontroller applications, advancing pager and satellite communication technologies, or enhancing electrical power systems.
Every student in the EE or CompE programs participates in the department's senior design initiative, which mirrors real-world industry teams. Similar to professional engineers, they manage projects from initial idea to production, gaining essential skills in teamwork, interpersonal dynamics, and technical problem-solving.
Applicants will be considered for admission to CSUN as an international freshman if you meet the following requirements: You have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale, or an average of "B" grades on an "A - F" letter grading scale. (CSUN will convert your international GPA when you apply for admission.)
