The undergraduate chemistry option aims to develop graduates who can clearly communicate core molecular science principles through integrated classroom instruction and hands-on lab work. Caltech's chemistry curriculum offers rigorous training in classic chemistry disciplines - including organic, inorganic, physical, theoretical, chemical biology, and biochemistry - while maintaining flexibility through advanced courses and faculty expertise. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, mirroring how molecular insights increasingly influence diverse scientific domains. Key research focuses on collaborative projects in energy/environmental solutions, medical applications, and nanoscale materials. Chemistry is also available as a minor field of study at Caltech.
International citizens must have completed Caltech's required academic preparation during their secondary school career.
Additional requirements of our international citizen applicants: TOEFL scores: Required of all international citizens unless 1) your native language is English or 2) you have studied for two or more years in a school where English is the language of instruction.
