The Chemistry Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program at Wayne State University provides comprehensive preparation for professional careers or advanced studies in chemistry. Students can select from biochemistry, materials science, or general chemistry specializations while benefiting from exceptional research experiences to deepen their expertise in this dynamic scientific discipline. Chemistry explores the composition and transformative characteristics of substances. Since all physical things consist of matter, chemical principles form the foundation for comprehending our environment. With five primary subdivisions (organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biological chemistry), students focus their studies by selecting a concentration area to develop specialized professional competencies.

Qualification Requirements

International applicants must complete the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree, including all state and external/internal examinations required for the degree. Some three-year general degrees (from Canada, India, Pakistan, France, Lebanon, etc.) may not be equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree. However, if you have completed an honors degree, additional undergraduate coursework beyond the three-year bachelor's degree, or a graduate degree, you may be considered for admission. As an international student, you are required to meet the university's English proficiency requirements for Undergraduate Admissions. Minimum scores of 79-80 TOEFL iBT and IELTS 6.5 are required for admission to Wayne State. If your native language is not English but you have been instructed in the English language, you are not necessarily exempt from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Test of Written English (TWE) and the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) requirements.
