CCA's ceramic arts program integrates diverse disciplines such as printmaking, sculpture, and glasswork. Students cultivate a rigorous studio practice embracing multiple viewpoints, materials, and methods. Our BFA in Ceramics has earned national recognition, preparing learners to become versatile interdisciplinary artists and adaptable collaborators. The curriculum examines ceramic history, modern theory, and material potential within an art and design institution framework. The program first acquaints students with clay's fundamental properties and potential, then supports them in expanding and refining their individual concepts. As learners progress from foundational courses to specialized advanced workshops concentrating on themes like objecthood, they integrate critical analysis, presentation abilities, and collaborative techniques.
Graduates emerge prepared to practice as cross-disciplinary artists and push ceramic art's boundaries. They launch independent studios, manage galleries, create product designs, enter educational fields, and undertake compelling initiatives addressing urgent social and environmental issues.
Students must have completed the college preparatory program in high school, including courses in studio art and art history whenever possible. The minimum TOEFL requirement is 213 CBT, 550 PBT, or 79 iBT. The college also accepts International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores of 6.5 and higher.
