The Pathobiology Graduate Program provides interdisciplinary training in Infectious Disease Pathobiology and Host Response as a specialized sub-track, with diverse thesis opportunities in faculty research labs. Areas of study encompass immunology at cellular and molecular levels, microbial infection processes, host defense systems, and related subjects. Participants are expected to share their findings at regional and national conferences. Brown University's Graduate School, through its Division of Biology and Medicine, administers this Ph.D.-granting Pathobiology Program, which typically admits students with robust backgrounds in biological sciences and prior research exposure. The curriculum focuses on four primary research domains: 1) Environmental Toxicology and Pathology, 2) Infectious Diseases and Immune Responses, 3) Oncology Research, and 4) Gerontological Studies. Each student collaborates with faculty advisors to create tailored research plans that build specialized knowledge while avoiding unnecessary coursework repetition. The program actively promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration with other graduate departments across the university.
