Education in cancer-causing mechanisms occurs across multiple Brown University research labs, examining various cancer forms and experimental models. This work frequently combines molecular biology experiments in controlled environments with animal studies using genetic modifications or cancer-inducing substances. Given that certain environmental factors or pathogens are linked to specific cancers, there's significant collaboration between Cancer Biology researchers and experts in Environmental Pathology/Toxicology as well as Infection & Immunity. Students benefit from exceptional shared resources like the RIH COBRE Center for Cancer Research Development (CCRD) for Molecular Pathology and Proteomics, the Brown Center for Genetics and Genomics, along with specialized facilities for Transgenics, Microarray analysis, and other cutting-edge technologies.
