Chemical Physics bridges chemistry and physics as an interdisciplinary field overseen by both departments. This program equips students with comprehensive knowledge in molecular sciences while preparing them for advanced studies in physical chemistry, chemical physics, or molecular engineering. Students must complete twenty courses across chemistry, physics, and mathematics, with potential substitutions from applied mathematics, biology, computer science, geological sciences, or engineering. Additionally, Chemical Physics students are encouraged to take a minimum of six humanities and social sciences courses. From first-years to seniors, all program participants actively engage in research alongside faculty from both departments.
Students should complete secondary school. Brown first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling.
A TOEFL score of 100 or above on the internet-based exam, or 600 or above on the paper-based exam, or a score of 8.0 or above on the IELTS, is expected in most cases.
