As a senior at Brown, you're eligible to apply for the MAT program in either elementary education (grades 1-6) or secondary education (grades 7-12) with concentrations in English, history/social studies, or science (biology, chemistry, or engineering/physics). You may transfer up to two undergraduate courses toward your MAT degree requirements. Important: These courses cannot simultaneously fulfill both your concentration requirements and MAT degree requirements. Courses below the 1000-level are ineligible for MAT credit. With approval from the MAT faculty director, you may apply 1-2 of these courses toward your MAT year: EDUC 1450-The Psychology of Teaching and Learning, any Education course above 1000-level to satisfy MAT elective requirements, or any content-area course above 1000-level relevant to your certification track (English, history/social studies, or science).
