The Master's Degree in Modern Culture and Media offers a 5th-year program, enabling MCM concentrators to pursue graduate studies at Brown immediately after earning their bachelor's degree. Undergraduates can apply two completed courses toward their master's requirements, reducing the postgraduate coursework to six classes and lowering tuition costs from eight to six units. Note that graduate credits from other institutions are not transferable. Prospective applicants should discuss their additional course selections with both the Director of Graduate Studies and their undergraduate advisor. During the fifth year, students will work closely with the Director of Graduate Studies, who serves as their primary academic advisor, to select appropriate courses.
