The Art and Architecture History concentration offers students the chance to examine diverse global art and architectural courses spanning different historical periods. Learners can engage in specialized studies through small, writing-focused seminars that delve into specific regions or topics. These higher-level classes immerse students in analytical approaches for understanding historical and cultural developments while refining their scholarly research and writing abilities. The program's foundational course (HIAA0010: Global History of Art and Architecture) serves as an ideal starting point for the concentration. While not mandatory for other lecture courses, students may include it among their required concentration credits.
Students should complete secondary school. Brown first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling.
A TOEFL score of 100 or above on the internet-based exam, or 600 or above on the paper-based exam, or a score of 8.0 or above on the IELTS, is expected in most cases.
