Our intimate two-year program awards a Master of Fine Arts degree specializing in fiction, poetry, or playwriting. The curriculum features focused genre workshops, literature courses, small-group reading sessions, and personalized tutorials, fostering close mentorship between distinguished faculty and students. Participants can contribute to The Brooklyn Review, present their work at public events across Brooklyn and Manhattan, and may receive fellowships, awards, or a winter residency at Washington's Espy Foundation in Oysterville. Teaching opportunities in undergraduate English courses are available. Alumni have achieved publication in prestigious journals like the Iowa Review and Colorado Review, earned spots in Best New Young Poets and Best American Short Stories anthologies, while our playwrights have earned Obie Awards, founded theater groups, and seen their works staged internationally.
