The Mathematics Education Department provides a graduate program culminating in a Master of Science degree in Mathematics Education. This program enables students to broaden their mathematical knowledge while gaining deeper insights into how learners understand mathematics. We prioritize personalized mentorship, welcoming each graduate student as an engaged participant in our academic community - a group dedicated to investigating mathematics learning and instruction. Our curriculum highlights faculty-student collaboration (inside and outside class) that: (1) encourages mathematical discovery through individual and group experiences, (2) engages students in thorough investigation, critical analysis, and clear communication, and (3) introduces students to growing research literature about mathematics education and current research methods. These comprehensive experiences equip graduates to pursue advanced doctoral studies in mathematics education, assume leadership positions in school mathematics programs, or return to teaching with enhanced skills for student-centered mathematics instruction.
