The Department provides two graduate degree options: an MA in Spanish and an MA in Portuguese. These programs feature three distinct specialization tracks. Candidates applying to the Spanish and Portuguese MA programs need to specify their chosen specialization area, as students will be enrolled directly into their selected field upon acceptance. We strongly advise potential students to discuss this crucial choice with faculty members. The available specialization areas include: Hispanic Linguistics, Hispanic Literatures, and Spanish Pedagogy

Bachelor's degree in Spanish or other subject. If in another subject, you must have Spanish courses equal to our Spanish minor.
Strong academic writing skills and a capacity to conduct independent research.
Strong language skills in Spanish.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3
IELTS - Overall minimum band score of 7.0 (consisting of minimum band scores of 6.0 in each module)
TOEFL (paper based test) - 580
TOEFL iBT (internet based test) - Minimum subscores of 22 (Speaking) and 21 (Listening, Reading, & Writing respectively) comprising an overall score at least 85.
Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
Minimum score of 3.5 on Analytical Writing section
