Brigham Young University's Clinical Psychology doctoral program is a nationally recognized, long-standing training initiative. Our program has maintained uninterrupted accreditation from the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1971. The curriculum emphasizes academic excellence, research proficiency, and clinical expertise. Following the scientist-practitioner model, we aim to provide students with comprehensive training to become skilled clinical psychologists, prepared for careers in academia, research, or clinical practice. Students can optionally specialize in one of three Major Areas of Study: (1) Child, Adolescent, and Family Clinical Psychology, (2) Neuropsychology, or (3) Health Psychology. Specialization is not mandatory for all students.
This five-year program includes four years of academic instruction, research projects, and clinical practice, culminating in a year-long paid internship at an approved facility, typically located outside Utah. The curriculum focuses on cultivating the diverse skills required of clinical psychologists, with all program components tailored to develop these essential competencies.
