The School of Family Life mandates at least 18 credit hours of upper-division SFL courses to be completed on campus at BYU for this degree. These credits may also count toward BYU's 30-hour residency requirement for graduation. Those not intending to pursue graduate studies should consider additional coursework to improve their job prospects. Meet with a faculty or academic advisor for recommendations on minors, majors, and skill development. Juniors and seniors are advised to enroll in career-focused student development courses.
The Family Studies program offers two specializations: Family Studies and Family Services. The Family Services concentration prepares students for careers in human services fields, including social work.
