Brigham Young University's Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) program provides returning students who can't come back to campus with a way to complete their BYU education remotely. To qualify, applicants need to have earned at least 30 credits as full-time students at BYU's Provo campus. Participants must follow the BYU Honor Code and obtain yearly ecclesiastical endorsements. For details, review the Admission Requirements and About BYU Ecclesiastical Endorsements. Current BYU students with less than 90 credits (excluding exam credit) aren't eligible. This degree helps former students maximize their previously completed coursework, maintaining the same academic standards as on-campus programs, including general education, religious studies, and residency requirements. Students can fulfill up to 90 of the 120 required credits through BYU Independent Study, choosing a general studies major with one of six specialization options.
