The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is a four-year program that involves joining specific performance ensembles and completing two intensive summer training programs. This degree focuses on equipping students with professional-level skills for careers in dance performance or choreography. Following guidelines set by our accrediting body, the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD), the BFA curriculum emphasizes extensive coursework in ballet and contemporary dance techniques, performance, and choreography, while offering additional dance styles as optional electives. Students must complete two culminating projects showcasing their performance and choreographic abilities.
Admission to this selective program depends on successful auditions and departmental approval. Participants undergo ongoing skill evaluations throughout their studies. The Dance BFA program readies graduates for professional careers as performers or choreographers and provides strong preparation for advanced studies in performance-focused graduate programs.
