The journalism program focuses on delivering truthful and meaningful content to support democratic processes, foster community connections, and inform public discourse. This field of study involves learning how to collaborate with others to produce news stories and features that truthfully represent our complex world. Learners will develop critical analysis abilities, precise writing techniques, and proficient interviewing skills to create impactful news content across text, audio, and visual formats.
To gain broad societal knowledge, students are advised to complete over 60% of their coursework in other disciplines. After establishing core competencies in communication principles, media writing, legal aspects, and ethical standards, students can tailor their education through progressive course sequences. They may choose to specialize in conventional broadcast or print journalism, digital media reporting and editing, or create a personalized curriculum by combining elements from multiple focus areas to align with their professional aspirations.
