The Asian Studies program is an interdisciplinary major that equips students for professional paths and graduate studies focusing on various aspects of Asian regions, including language, history, geography, political systems, and cultural studies - areas not fully addressed by single-department majors.

Core Competencies
Acquire fundamental knowledge about East Asia's literature, humanities, historical developments, political systems, economic structures, geographical features, and societal contexts. This foundational understanding is built through key courses in the curriculum: Asian 200 (Introduction to Asian Studies: Research Approaches), Asian 342 (Literary Heritage of Asia), History 231 (East Asian History Survey), either IHum 241 (Asian Humanities) or IHum 243 (South Asian Humanities Introduction), and either Poli 348 (Asian Political Systems) or Poli 385 (Asia's International Relations).
