The Brandeis MAT program equips you to create meaningful change in contemporary diverse educational settings.
Our rigorous one-year curriculum enables you to obtain a master's degree, secure an elementary or subject-specific Massachusetts Initial License, and optionally pursue additional certification in Moderate Disabilities or English as a Second Language. You'll also secure employment - 100% of Brandeis MAT graduates obtain teaching positions upon completing the program. Your academic work will be seamlessly combined with a full-year student-teaching placement in urban public schools, suburban districts, or Jewish day schools.
As an MAT student, you'll become part of a passionate, intellectually curious community of future educators. You'll collaborate to implement foundational concepts - including equity, justice, cognitive development, and differentiated instruction - into everyday teaching practice. Your final project involves conducting Teacher Research, where you'll methodically examine the instructional dynamics within your classroom.
