Our BA/BS-MAT dual degree program allows you to obtain a master's degree and teaching certification for public elementary, secondary, or Jewish day schools by the summer following your senior year. You'll accumulate less student debt and begin your teaching career earlier.
This program lets you complete both undergraduate and graduate degrees in just 10 semesters at Brandeis. After applying during your junior year fall, you'll start graduate courses the following summer and finish your MAT degree the summer after senior year.
Along with MAT classes, you'll undertake a year-long internship (18-21 hours weekly in fall, full-time in spring). All MAT candidates complete an additional placement to explore different educational settings or pursue extra certification in moderate disabilities or ESL.
After graduating and passing the MTEL exams, you'll qualify to apply for a Massachusetts Initial Teaching License in either elementary or secondary education.
