The ceramics program offers an artistic education combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. This comprehensive approach helps you develop a distinctive ceramic style through form, color, and texture.
As a studio art student, you'll explore creativity through courses in art history, drawing, and digital media. While establishing this base, you'll also take ceramics classes that teach hand-building techniques before advancing to wheel-throwing, glazing, and kiln firing with both electric and gas options.
The ceramics degree offers three tracks: B.A., B.S., or B.F.A. The B.A. and B.S. focus on liberal arts, whereas the B.F.A. serves as the professional degree. This studio-heavy B.F.A. program allows concentrated study in your chosen medium. For expanded career possibilities, you can combine ceramics with another major or minor.
