The chemistry education program equips you for the Illinois Professional Educator's License in Secondary Education with a chemistry specialization.
Starting in your first year, you'll engage in classroom field experiences, followed by more advanced placements during sophomore and junior years. These progressively prepare you for your culminating student teaching experience in senior year. Throughout this journey, Bradley faculty and supervising teachers provide essential mentorship. You'll also collaborate closely with the chemistry department, gaining comprehensive knowledge to effectively teach the subject.
Our program holds dual accreditation: the chemistry department by the American Chemical Society, and teacher education by both the Illinois State Board of Education and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. Additionally, we're proud members of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. The secondary education program has earned national recognition from leading educational organizations including the National Science Teachers Association and National Council of Teachers of English.
