While mathematics is an age-old academic field, it remains one of the most vibrant and impactful disciplines today. One dimension of mathematics involves abstract concepts and complex challenges, with notable recent achievements like solving the Poincaré Conjecture, the Sphere-Packing Conjecture, and Fermat's Last Theorem. Another dimension is mathematics' application across various human activities, where its influence is remarkable. Mathematics has long been essential in business, physics, and engineering. More recently, it has fueled advancements in telecommunications, healthcare, computing, financial services, risk management, meteorology, automotive and aerospace design, among others. Every mathematics course in the major curriculum cultivates fresh perspectives and instills disciplined thinking, expressed through problem-solving or well-structured reasoning.
