A Bachelor of Science degree is offered exclusively in fields such as biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, geology, mathematics, microbiology, neuroscience, physics, psychology, or statistics. Additionally, students must complete a minor specialization as described in the following section.
All students are required to fulfill the degree requirements specified below. We advise students to prioritize introductory courses in their major, the University Writing Program, and BG Perspective Quantitative Literacy during their first semester. Whenever feasible, students should choose first-year major courses that simultaneously satisfy BG Perspective criteria. Typically, students should complete the Arts and Sciences Quantitative Literacy requirement (Calculus) by the fall semester of their sophomore year. When possible, students should also begin working toward the Arts and Sciences Multidisciplinary Component or World Languages and Cultures requirement during their second year. BS degree candidates are expected to make significant headway on Arts and Sciences requirements by their junior year.
