Students who graduate with an Intervention Specialist education degree qualify for licensure in two specialization areas: Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist K-12 and Moderate to Intensive Intervention Specialist K-12.
BGSU's teacher preparation programs maintain rigorous standards with selective admissions and completion requirements. These include evaluations of professional conduct, maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and achieving passing scores on all mandated Ohio Assessments for Educators tests for each subject area specified by the state. Program participants must also complete yearly BCI/FBI background checks to engage in essential fieldwork components.

Overall GPA of 3.0 for admission into the program
Must pass the OAE Licensing Examinations prior to enrolling in methods
For admission to Bowling Green State University, a freshman applicant must:
Be a graduate of a senior high school approved or accredited by the department of education of the state in which it is located, OR
Have earned high school equivalency through the General Educational Development (GED) testing program (issued by the state department of education), OR
Present GED test results and ACT or SAT test results, if the student completed secondary education through an alternative program such as home schooling, OR
Present an international baccalaureate diploma or certificate.
Admission is selective. In general, we require a high school record that includes four units each of English and mathematics, three units each of science and social studies, two units of a foreign language, and one unit of visual or performing arts.
An applicant is considered for admission on the basis of four criteria:
