The aviation studies program equips students for leadership roles in both general and commercial aviation sectors. This major offers three focused tracks: aviation management and operations, aviation engineering technology, and flight technology and operations. FAA-certified flight instruction follows all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. Students must achieve a minimum grade of C in all major courses (AERT).
The curriculum includes mandatory coursework in science, mathematics, BG Perspective, and business disciplines. Students must also complete supervised cooperative education experiences aligned with their chosen specialization.
Credit for external flight and ground training is generally not transferable, though the College Dean may approve exceptions for qualified candidates.
Once enrolled at BGSU, all flight and ground training must be completed through the university program. External training requires written approval from the Dean of the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering. When authorized, academic credit is granted only after the Chief Flight Instructor verifies the student meets program standards. If no credit is awarded, students must complete approved electives to fulfill degree requirements.
